Metis Talent Management brand new website goes live

Last fortnight was a joy, as we came to the launch of Metis Talent Management's website. Metis is a Singapore based organisation that advises clients on Talent Management with a primary focus on Talent Development and Organisation Design. Best wishes to team Metis!

The other great thing is how folks at Metis approached this by going in for a full overhaul, including getting a new logo and brand colours. Do leave your comments on what you feel about the website and the logo!!

Amazon Prime Video and Chromecast Make for a Winning Combo

Amazon India has just announced the launching of Amazon Prime Video at a very nominal price of Rs 499 per year. In fact, if you happen to have Amazon Prime membership, this service is available to you at no additional cost.

So if you want to play a movie available on Amazon Prime Video on your Chromecast connected TV from your Android phone, here are the very simple steps:

  1. Install Google Home app on your Android phone. If you have a Chromecast device connected to your TV, you would find that device automatically showing once you run Google Home App.
  2. Start the TV connected to the Chromecast device. Change the input mode on the TV to reflect the HDMI port to which the Chromecast device is connected.
  3. One you have the Chromecast default screen visible on the TV, start the Google Home app. Click on the hamburger menu on the top left to expand the left panel. In that panel, select,  Cast screen/audio (highlighted in yellow below).

  4. In the next screen below, click on Cast Screen/audio.

It will show your screen on TV. Next, go to the Amazon Prime Video. Click the video you wish to watch on bigger screen and enjoy thoue full experience on a larger screen. In this way you can enjoy your favourite movies, TV shows etc on your TV screen by projecting it from your Android mobile phone Amazom Prime Video app.

You would be surprised how easy it is. Welcome to the API economy!

ISRO Chandrayan landing on the moon indeed?

The newspapers, television and radio are screaming- Indian Space Programme goes commercial and likes. Indeed, after decades of research, our scientists are all set to do a commercial launch- a 309 kg Italian satellite would be lobbed into a polar orbit this afternoon on board a PSLV rocket. This is a low orbit satellite would find its position somewhere 300 kms above the ground and orbit earth every 90 minutes or so. Communication satellites of any real worth - running communication channels and costing megabucks - operate in geo stationary orbit at about 36000 kms, and they must be transported to 8000 kms by rockets. These satellites weigh 3-4 tonnes. This is where the real money is. The US space programme and Arianne rockets compete heavily in this commercial space. China and Japan have their own programmes and at least China does not outsource the launches though not sure about Japan. India's own GSLV is far from ready, even after burning time and money and couple of Russian engi…

Humour:A conversation between Presidents Kalam and Musharraf that never happened

(Indian President A.P.J Abdul Kalam invited President Musharraf of Pakistan to a meeting. For good measure he suggested the meeting be organized over video-conference. Since Aiwan-e-Sadr did not have VC facilities. Bush bailed him once again and Musharraf took a flight to DC to take the VC from the White House)
It was 6:30 PM IST, which was 9 AM EST.

Kalam: Good morning Your Excellency.

Musharraf: Good morning President (Musharraf forgot the time difference). Kashmir…..(cut short by Kalam)

Kalam: Yes, Kashmir. Few minutes back I was in the herbal garden of Rashtrapati Bhawan, where we have some of the herbs especially brought from Kashmir. The ancient science of Ayurveda, emphasized a lot on the importance of herbs in our life. They give you vitality(pauses and sips something, which he emphasizes is Kashmiri drink Kehwa, organically grown). Infact, you must take a pledge that you would only consume herbal products. I have a pledge for you(picks up a card next to him but is cut short by M…

Has the TOI- The Hindu outdoor war started already?

Okay, I agree I have been giving too much of this blog's prime real estate to the Times of India upcoming launch in Chennai. Not that I have a great love for current day TOI, but as a graduate of marketing, I feel competition in this media would make the readers great benefits. And yes, I would get to see my childhood newspaper, in my city.To be fair, others have tried to challenge the Hindu in Chennai , the Deccan Chronicle and the New Indian Express are there too, but have not been able to come up anywhere near the market leader. As I suspected, the outdoor action has started. I noticed this advertising hoarding yesterday on my way to office. The traffic at the Turnbulls Road curve was standstill, giving ample time to click this snap.  While it does not say about what product it is advertising, the hints are that it is a Times of India ad, which is seeking attention and acting as the teaser for something to follow. The artwork is a collage of some newspaper, presumably, the TOI. …
