Metis Talent Management brand new website goes live

Last fortnight was a joy, as we came to the launch of Metis Talent Management's website. Metis is a Singapore based organisation that advises clients on Talent Management with a primary focus on Talent Development and Organisation Design. Best wishes to team Metis!

The other great thing is how folks at Metis approached this by going in for a full overhaul, including getting a new logo and brand colours. Do leave your comments on what you feel about the website and the logo!!

Leanest Inventory Management Practice in Retail

Not too long ago, I was listening to a captivating talk by Rajeev Karwal, CEO of Milagrow and one of India's most prominent names in Retail. Rajeev was talking at IIT Madras, and his argument was why and how the small retailer will continue to thrive in India.

Well, my wife and I were at a shopping complex here in Chennai and we stopped at a footwear shop. My wife picked up something that caught her attention, which was fancy looking footwear on display. She wanted to try it out, and so she asked for the second piece of the pair ( not a different pair but the left foot one, while the right one was in her hand).

The shopkeeper cum salesman stepped out, walked out to a shop across the lane and then appeared back with the left foot fancy chappal and gave it to her. "It was on display in my brother's shop", he said matter-of-factly.

Think about that. He did not even have one pair of chappal but half a pair. We heard about back-to-back ordering etc but no one ever boasted of selling stuff, with half a unit in inventory, and still doing spot delivery on demand. Cool!

The new blogspot allows you to transfer all your posts with your comments to your own WP in less than 5 min. Just use the export option in the admin area.

I did this for my mom saltandspice.blogspot.com to saltandspice.org

Hope it helped. You should have some contact details on your blog, lol

FROM THE 'SETS' OF THE MOVIE 'GANDHI'

I took this picture from a train as it ambled its way over the bridge on the river Son near Patna (Exact location Koilwar or Koelwar as you choose to spell it)
Discerning folks will recall the scene in the movie 'Gandhi' where a steam loco driven train halts on this bridge(from where this picture is taken) and passengers, including Gandhiji go down to the river. It is a very touching scene as Gandhiji notices a poor lady trying to cover her body with whatever little clothes she could afford and Gandhiji quietly letting go of a cloth that was on his shoulder so that the flow of the water leads the cloth to the lady. I have crossed this bridge so many times and it feels so serene and calm at this place.
Only that this is not the movie set, but the location of one of the historical experiences of …
