Metis Talent Management brand new website goes live

Last fortnight was a joy, as we came to the launch of Metis Talent Management's website. Metis is a Singapore based organisation that advises clients on Talent Management with a primary focus on Talent Development and Organisation Design. Best wishes to team Metis!

The other great thing is how folks at Metis approached this by going in for a full overhaul, including getting a new logo and brand colours. Do leave your comments on what you feel about the website and the logo!!

WHO USES ONLINE WORD PROCESSING ANYWAY?

Google has come out with a new service called Docs & Spreadsheets.(The docs part comes from a company called Writely that Google acquired some time back) That left me wondering. Who is the targetted user for this? A person who has a PC and internet access, but not have a word processing programme. Or the roving sales guys? Appears quite an unlikely scenario.
Luckily, Google Docs & Spreadsheets is not about word processing or about doing spreadsheets. It is about collaboration, and word processing, if I may say, is just incidental. In typical Google style of understatement, this is quite feature rich, allows multiple users to collaborate on the same doc and mail it off .

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The 'docs' part is reasonably okay, but I still cannot visualize a scenario where I would use it.It is compatible with other Word Processing such as MS Word and Star Office etc, allows you to save the doc in PDF mode(a good value add). The spreadsheet part, to say the least, is quite sad. As Amit Agarwal pointed out, it does not even have the feature to create graphs.

But then, the fashion these days is to launch a software, and then take it to beta later (Blogger!). But once again, coming back to the earlier question of targetted user. Not sure this will see any significant adoption. Hang on Google. You are trying to take on Microsoft too fast. And on this on atleast, you are not appearing surefooted.

I love using google docs. I work on stuff at home and also at work. Now I don't have to transfer docs from one place or another.

FROM THE 'SETS' OF THE MOVIE 'GANDHI'

I took this picture from a train as it ambled its way over the bridge on the river Son near Patna (Exact location Koilwar or Koelwar as you choose to spell it)
Discerning folks will recall the scene in the movie 'Gandhi' where a steam loco driven train halts on this bridge(from where this picture is taken) and passengers, including Gandhiji go down to the river. It is a very touching scene as Gandhiji notices a poor lady trying to cover her body with whatever little clothes she could afford and Gandhiji quietly letting go of a cloth that was on his shoulder so that the flow of the water leads the cloth to the lady. I have crossed this bridge so many times and it feels so serene and calm at this place.
Only that this is not the movie set, but the location of one of the historical experiences of …
